The first half was a real struggle to get through, the second half was better. The set was dark as were the costumes, I appreciate it is supposed to reflect a seedy era & theme but it felt dreary to watch. We didn't think Cuba Gooding Jr's voice was strong enough for the part. The best bit was the band & conductor -especially their encore. We appreciate that it is set in the 1920's but the production felt dated.

Saw Chicago for the first time over 20 years ago when Ruthie played Roxie. She was not available on the evening we went this time. However it was a wonderful, energetic and fun production. Only disappointment was that ' Billy's' voice didn't carry well. We had excellent seats in row E.
